Ranger

 

Ranger has been gathering wild Cornish Native Fal Oysters aboard his vessel ‘Alf Smythers’ since 2008. He has owned and operated ‘Fal Oyster Ltd t/a Cornish Native Oysters’ since 2009, hosted many pop up gatherings since 2010, including the famous oyster bar at The ‘Front Fal during Falmouth Oyster Festival.

Ranger has appeared many times on TV: BBC CountryFile and Rick Stein’s Cornwall, ITV Julia Bradbury Walks Devon & Cornwall, as well appearing in the official music video for Beirut’s – The Rip Tide and more recently Bruce Dickinson’s – After Glow of Ragnarök.

Since 2021, he has hosted the iconic ‘Ranger’s Oyster Bar’ for us. At Rock Oyster 2023 he launched Cornwall’s first Cannery since the 1940s, the ‘Cornish Canning Co’ has already launched its inaugural range of ‘Cornish Canned Shellfish’, including Rock Oysters, Native Oysters, Rope Grown Mussels, and Queen Scallops, with the Rocks and Mussels ‘WINNING GOLD in the Taste of the West Product Awards 2024’

He will bringing his iconic bar and unique ethos, with the regular crew and 5 hygiene rated service, serving a wide range of accompaniments at the ‘Raw Bar’, and offering a selection from his ‘Cooked Oyster Menu’ that he has perfected over the years, as well as his new ‘Tinned Fish Tapas Bar’

As a bit of a coup in 2024, Ranger will be launching the next range ‘Cornish Tinned Fish’ including Mackerel, Pilchards and maybe even line caught Cornish Tuna if we are lucky!
